Fleur de bitume aux névroses aussi nombreuses que les voix express, la jeune femme du roman transpire de terreur par un témoignage angoissé et angoissant : celles de la mort violente, du crime de sang anonyme sans possibilité de sauvetage, de la disparition de l?amour ou de sa transformation en produit de consommation. Et comme tout produit une fois consommé, l?inévitable est sans doute la mise au rebus. Acqua-Toffana est un thriller vu par la lorgnette d?un confessionnal policier, porté par une construction irréprochable et une écriture dont l?expérience dramaturgique de l?auteur est le moteur. On se prend à trembler, nous aussi, devant notre télé et à vérifier par deux fois si notre porte d?entrée est bien fermée.
