It’s Christmas Eve, and the Brenner family is making preparations for a dinner guest. Sally Brenner, the youngest of three children, is thrilled when Aunt Linda comes to visit and brings with her a very special gift. Amidst the chaos that threatens to overthrow any hope for a merry Christmas, Linda’s gift centers the family’s attention on the real meaning of Christmas—that is, the simple gospel message. As events of the evening take an unexpected turn for the worse, Sally learns to be a bright light to her family in an otherwise dark and dismal situation. NOTE: This play was written for an eight-member cast—a child, two teens, and five adults. Designed to be performed in churches. It may be performed using simple sets and minimal props. Director’s production notes are included regarding sets, props, and sound cues. Every cast and crew member needs a script.
