Writing Stuart Squirrel Learns a Lesson started off as a quick lesson I had to give to a group of volunteers while taking a Leave No Trace class. I had five minutes to come up with a short lesson on Respect Wildlife and came up with a story about a squirrel who wanted to eat human food.  It was so short and when I finished, my fellow volunteers asked what ever happened. I responded with, "I don't really know, as I just came up with this little idea for this lesson."  I went home and Stuart "spoke to me!" and I just had to continue and  this is our story! My other books taught lessons as well, but I am now with a new publisher and we are proud of where Stuart is going! Leave No Trace and the seven principles are very important!  Respect Wildlife is the principle Stuart Squirrel Learns a Lesson is based upon!  It is never good to expect wildlife to eat our food as it will make them sick and possibly die!
