"They shall know that I am the Lord their God who brought them out of the land of Egypt, that I might dwell among them; I am the LORD their God" (Exodus 29:46).
The promise God made long ago to His people is still relevant and attainable today. God longs to personally inhabit His chosen ones and show Himself strong among His people. Yet, today--as it often has been in the past--God's people long more for provisions that gratify immediate needs than they do for the supernatural, abiding presence of God. In response, Christian leaders--like Moses--occasionally capitulate to the pressures of leadership; and, in doing so, sometimes offer little more than professionally-produced programs and finely tuned services that appeal to the flesh but do little to heal the wounds of spiritually broken people. In the end, pastors face growing frustration and the people increasing dissatisfaction.
This doesn't have to be! God still longs to reveal Himself in all of His glory and power to His people. He wants to be the focus of their passion and the source of their help. He longs to heal His people and satisfy their hearts' greatest and deepest desires. Hungry For His Presence will help you experience the heart of God and discover the hope of spiritual renewal.

David Stewart, Jr. is one of the most sincere Christ followers I know. He has a heart for the truth of God's Word and a passion for teaching practical application of authentic spiritual experience. This message concerning the personal work of the Holy Spirit is much needed in the church today. It is a straight forward and clear encouragement to open our lives to the transforming and world-changing power of the Holy Spirit. When David writes about the Holy Spirit he is not writing about a concept or a principle, he is speaking out of an intimate relationship and life-long encounter. I was both encouraged and challenged, not because I learned things I had not heard before, but because the simplicity of the message in the context of the testimony of a life well lived encouraged me to seek the renewal of the Spirit in my life once again.
David Delp, Executive Secretary and Director of Leadership Development for the Indiana Assemblies of God
Just because people meet for a regularly scheduled church service does not mean that people have encountered the presence of God. In his new book, Pastor David Stewart takes us past the surface into the desperate need we all have to encounter God's presence. His transparency is refreshing and brings us face to face with this reality--outside of the presence of the living Christ, we will only have the trappings of Christianity.

Intimacy with God! Is it possible? Pastor David Stewart reminds us that not only is it possible, it is absolutely vital to the believer's relationship with God. That intimacy is foundational to the believer's effectiveness in fulfilling the purpose for which God placed us here. The garden of Eden was designed for intimacy. There, Adam and Eve walked with God in the cool of the evening. They were naked and not ashamed. Disobedience changed the relationship! How ironic that in the very place designed for intimacy, they hid from God. Ministry to the Lord precedes ministry for the Lord! No wonder that when Jesus called His disciples in Mark chapter 3, He "ordained" them--that they should (first) be with Him! Then, they were to go and preach the gospel, cast out demons, and heal the sick. Doing for comes out of being with! Is God weeping over us the way Christ wept over Jerusalem? "I have longed to gather you...but ye would not!" May David Stewart's words inspire all of us to seek the face of God--and not just His hand!
Robert Wise, Jr., Southern New England Ministry Network Pastor
