Hole in the Wall has been through some changes over the years. Originally written on a spiral notepad in college, when I SHOULD have been paying attention in class. The entire book was drafted in a matter of days, while also doing my classwork, flipping the page as the instructor walked by.  The idea for Hole in the Wall was a movie in my head. Things rose to a whole new level of bizarreness when "Brock" suddenly popped into existence as I was writing an entirely different scene. "What in the world am I writing here?" I asked. A book with 90 ft. tall broccoli people, of course! And a barfing scientist-dog named Ralph, a grumpy log named Bump, a caffeinated tricycle named Red, a height-challenged king, a psycho Queen Bee....That was back in 2007. That notebook sat in a drawer for 2 years. From 2009 to 2011, Hole in the Wall went through every form of editing imaginable. Revision after revision after revision. Complete chapter re-writes, minor tinkering, major overhauls, and everything in between. I still recall driving from Canada to Tucson (1500 miles) and having my wife recite to me the entire manuscript, while I listened to the wording and sentence flow, and had her make notes of things I wanted to change. (If I remember correctly, it still wasn't a complete read through by the time we got home.)    Even after all the revisions, Hole in the Wall is still quite a long story at 35,000 words. But I tried to keep the story moving along quickly. Chapter 30 (cleverly titled "The Longest Chapter") is the longest chapter, coming in at a whopping 16 pages. Chapter 22, meanwhile, is just a short 28 words. From start to finish...7 years (9.5 if you count the new cover)! That's how long it took for Hole in the Wall to see the light of day. (PS--Part TWO is rattling around inside my head somewhere, but with so many other projects going on right now (at least half a dozen, probably more like a dozen) I can't say exactly when it will be available. But in the meantime, my talented wife is working on putting a Hole in the Wall POETRY BOOK together. It'll be a hardcover book with Shaun's amazing illustrations, and filled with all the silly songs and rhymes and poetry that you discover while reading through the bizarre adventure this is Hole in the Wall.)
