LaDonna Kramer Meinders loves writing, and sometimes even thinks in rhymes. She wrote her first poem in 2nd grade and has been writing ever since. From plays in elementary school that she and her classmates performed to poetry, short stories, and an unpublished novel, writing has become a part of her. Meinders hopes that What Would You Do If A Kangaroo... stimulates the imaginations of children and makes them want to read more about the world and its people. ONCE CHILDREN EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF READING, THEY DISCOVER A LIFE-LONG TREASURE AND I HOPE WE CAN KINDLE THAT. MY YOUNG GRANDCHILDREN ARE READERS, AND THAT IS VERY EXCITING FOR ME, Meinders says. This collection of poems can be read on one s own, by a parent to a child, a grandparent to a grandchild, and by a friend to a friend . . . the combinations are endless. May you enjoy discovering What You Would Do If A Kangaroo...

About the Author:
About the Author... LaDonna Kramer Meinders grew up on a farm overlooking the Cimarron River in Kingfisher County, Oklahoma, and attended school in the small town of Loyal, formerly named Kiel by the German immigrants who settled there. LaDonna attended Oklahoma City University where she studied piano with Dr. Clarence Burg, wrote for the campus newspaper, and was honored to be named Homecoming Queen for the OCU Chiefs basketball team. During college she also earned the titles of Oklahoma Maid of Cotton and Miss Oklahoma. She returned to Kingfisher with her husband William J. Gooden and raised her four children - Mark, Lori, John, and Joe. She was the organist at First Christian Church for more than 20 years. In 1976, she and piano duo partner Ellen Jayne Wheeler performed at the Kennedy Center during America s Bicentennial celebration. In the early 1980s, LaDonna returned to Oklahoma City University as the Alumni Director. She met Herman Meinders and they were married in 1986. LaDonna has published three books: LEAVES IN THE WIND about growing up in rural Oklahoma; ANGEL HUGS, a book of devotional readings; and ANGEL HUGS FOR CANCER PATIENTS, a book of encouraging meditations for persons suffering from cancer. About the Illustrator... A native of Eufaula, Oklahoma, Betty Walls Boyd grew up on a farm. Her education began at Mt. Zion, a small, rural elementary school near present-day Checotah. She graduated from Checotah High School as valedictorian and was awarded a scholarship to Oklahoma City University. After college, Betty married and had three children - Lorrie, Scott, and Jeff. Always interested in art, especially drawing, her preferred mediums are watercolor and pastels. It was only following retirement that she could pursue her dream of painting and began classes through the Community College Emeritus Lifelong Learning Programs. Her watercolors were chosen for student art shows programs, posters, and brochures. Most recently she completed illustrations for THE RAINBOW AND THE PATH by David Kanowsky. Roommates in college, LaDonna Kramer Meinders and Betty Walls Boyd have maintained a very close relationship and now celebrate their talents in their first book together.
