Synopsis

The Descendant is Book One of a trilogy of novels that chronicles the life of Penny, a present day African American and Native American intuitive and healer. Penny is born with a mission to end the cycle of abuse that has plagued generations of women in her family so she can establish a new legacy of divine freedom and financial independence for future generations.

Much of Book One is told through the eyes of Penny's unborn soul as she watches over the lives of three generations of women who will become her ancestors once she is born. Bound by her spiritual ethics and faith, she can only watch and pray in her ancestors' midst as they struggle in their search for love.

Beginning with her grandmother's Post Victorian New York Paper Bag society of 1904 where it was unacceptable to have skin darker than a paper bag, Penny's spirit leads the reader deep into the subconscious and souls of her ancestors' triumphs and defeats. However, when Penny is finally born in ''Uptown Harlem'' in 1958, her mystical and spiritual abilities make her a threat to her parents. The very people she watched over and prayed for now seek to dominate, control, and destroy her.

Just when her parents think they have finally won, Penny unleashes a power they cannot touch or control. A battle for truth begins as her own parents try to destroy Penny and her ability to remember the gift she was born to deliver.

The Descendant is Book One of a trilogy of novels based on the journey of one woman's rise from painful tragedy to divine love. Silent Partners and The Trinity, books two and three respectively, complete the trilogy of her journey to compassion, forgiveness and love.

Ms. Chappelle hopes that her trilogy of novels will help others, who are trapped in sexual and domestic abusive situations; to awaken and find the self love required to free themselves and future generations from the cycle of abuse.

Ms. Chappelle presently resides in Massachusetts where she shares her life with her two daughters and their Shih Tzu, Little Ricky. When she is not writing, she divides her time with her Consultation business, My Portal Star where she utilizes her life lessons, Feng Shui and intuitive abilities to help others transform emotional blocks to stepping stones that lead to a more prosperous and loving life.
