About the Author:
Anthony D. Fredericks, PhD, is the author of 30 children's books about science, nature, and the environment, including Under One Rock, On One Flower, and A is for Anaconda. A former classroom teacher and reading specialist, Dr. Fredericks is currently Professor of Education at York College of Pennsylvania.
Nationally known illustrator and author Kenneth J. Spengler has illustrated many Western favorites including How Jackrabbit Got His Long Ears, and the whimsical counting book Way Out In The Desert. Ken has received the Children's Choice Award. He currently lives in Sacramento, California, with his wife Margaret and son Matt.

Desert Night Desert Day is a magnificently illustrated nature book about nocturnal and diurnal creatures of the Sonoran Desert. Designed to educate and entertain both children and adults, every page is a study in colorful contrasts, with subtle hidden shadows of both the creature just seen on the previous pages and the creature to come on the following pages. How children will delight in looking for each creature, each shadow, and the little bob-white Quail, our desert guide through the pages. The spare, elegantly versed text describes the different traits and movements of each featured animal, bird, or reptile. At the end some Field Notes and a list of the featured six nocturnal animals and six diurnal animals gives more information about each desert creature.
