Big Al s autobiography is also an invigorating chronicle about the personalities that he s had the pleasure of knowing, most memorably Wilt Chamberlain, who granted Al his final exclusive interview. A 10-time Emmy Award winner, Al Meltzer has won just about every honor in his profession. Lyons covered professional and college sports for the Associated Press and contributed articles to numerous national publications. Having lived in Philadelphia since coming here to coach their Eagles in 1976, I can honestly say I lived many parts of this fine book right along with Big Al. It was a great read for me, as it will be for the rest of you that love the Delaware Valley. Al so accurately describes the events and people of that time.
