About the Author:
Mark Tjia has spent most of his life on the tennis court either as a player or as a coach. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1971, he picked up the game of tennis by tagging along with his parents when they could not find a babysitter. Mark has played competitive tennis since the age of eight beginning with junior tennis in Florida, then playing his collegiate tennis at Texas Christian University and eventually on to ITF satellite circuits and challengers. He has traveled throughout Asia, Europe, and North America in pursuit of his childhood dream of playing professional tennis. Mark achieved his career high ranking of #592 in the world in November of 1994. After a stint as a coach of the WTA Tour, Mark returned to his hometown of Gainesville, Florida, where he has served as the Head Professional of the 300 Swim & Tennis Club since 1997.
