About the Author:
Pat Martin was the first Czech Village Coordinator working within the Czech Village Association, Czech Heritage Foundation, and Czech Fine Arts groups. These Czechs updated their Village in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with sidewalkscapes, landscaping, building design, and renovations. Pat, a 100 percent Irish woman whose birth name is McConville, is a volunteer with the Guild of NCSML (National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library). A past Guild president, she is a museum docent who enjoys giving tours for children. A former high school language arts teacher, Pat is a mother, widow, and grandmother. She seeks to build partnerships with others to help preserve their cultural heritages.
