When there is a shortage of red tomatoes for the market, green tomatoes are painted red to fill the tomato basket. One Saturday, Anne the green tomato is painted red for the market. After becoming ill and sore from all the red paint, she is determined to stop the guards from painting green tomatoes. She and her green friends devise a plan to stand up to the guards (giant eggplants!) in order to protect their skins and seeds from harm.
