The darkest disasters in both Mother Nature and human nature have occurred since the dawn of time, and now it seems that the "natural disaster of the century" occurs almost every year. Thankfully, few of us will ever face a tragedy that strikes with the strength and speed of a tornado or tsunami or with the ferocity of a flood or forest fire. Yet most of us do indeed confront crises, real or imaginary, that can change the course of our lives in a heartbeat.

This inspiring book presents the author's spirit of resilience throughout a lifetime of challenges and triumphs from both a professional and personal perspective--from an orphanage in Canada to a scholarship in the USA; from her adoptive parents deaths from cancer when she was 21 to her own experience as a cancer survivor; from arriving in Australia jobless to joining IBM and being named Australian Executive Woman of the Year and Keynote Speaker of the Year and honored to carry the Olympic torch during the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics.

During waves of change or winds of woe, when our clarity of thinking vanishes in a mist of tears, lessons from a wondrous array of natural resources can help us clear the mental fog and better cope with the challenges. The Gift of Nature applies the timeless wisdom of Mother Nature to human nature, offering readers strength through nature photographs and inspirational quotes from an author who has bounced back from setbacks time and time again.

From the Author:
Thankfully, few of us will ever face tragedy that strikes with the strength and speeds of tornadoes and tsunamis; or with the ferocity of floods and forest fires. Yet, most of us do indeed confront crises (real or imaginary) that can instantly change the course of our lives, eclipsing not only our dreams but also our desire to carry on. I know because I've been there.
When faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles, there exists that fine line between succumbing or surviving; retreating or rebounding; giving up or getting up to try again. Just as our environment continually evolves and renews after terrible tragedies, so too the human spirit can become stronger with time spent in nature far from the fast paced and noisy world of high tech.

Apart from the need to re-charge phones or devices, my own energy always seemed boosted amidst nature. Climbing in the sublime silence of the Antarctic, strolling along a beach or gazing at a beautiful garden next door all offered their inexplicable breath of fresh air for my soul during dark days. Only while compiling The Gift of Nature-did I discover why that was so. Research from leading universities now offers scientific evidence that time spent in nature does indeed contribute to better mental well-being.

So, when you can't see the forest for the trees and think that no one else understands, think again. And know that lessons from Mother Nature help human nature soothe our battered souls as we weather those inevitable storms of life.

I sincerely hope you find this little book helpful on your journey-and would love to hear from you .
