Book Description Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Peace, Democracy & Development in Africa interrogates selected themes using specific cases. While Africa is taunted as a rising hopeful continent, the book shows that the trajectory it is taking continues to go through pangs and setbacks. Using case studies drawn from themes around the limitations of liberal peace, the undermining of social contract in countries like Sierra Leone, conflict traps in states like Uganda, the challenges of democracy and sustainable livelihoods, the problems of monitoring legislative representation and environmental issues in the continent, the dilemma of natural resource-dependent pastoral communities in East Africa, the East African Customs union protocol; and the protection and promotion of farmers' rights and community-based property rights in general in East Africa, the book recommends policy options that could alleviate the numerous wrongs in Africa's development journey.________________________________________ David J Francis is a Sierra Leonean 'technocratic politician', academic and author.
