Mauri Kunnas is a hugely popular Finnish author-illustrator, whose prize-winning books are loved by children all over the world. Mauri was born in Vammala, Finland in 1950. He studied at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki and worked as a newspaper cartoonist before becoming a full-time author-illustrator. Mauri has gone on to publish more than 40 books for children and his work has been translated into over 20 different languages. He lives in Espo with his wife Tarja, daughters Jenna and Noora and his cat (and occasional muse) Kille.
