Prof. M.R.D. Foot, CBE was an army officer in WWII, specialising in intelligence for part of it. He then taught history at Oxford & Manchester, where he was Prof. of Modern History. He wrote the 1st official history of SOE in France & introduced & edited SECRET HISTORY OF SOE.
