From the Publisher:
In "Makeover Magic," Andrea Maflin shows you how to make the most of your home with her innovative design solutions for modern living. She examines seven rooms, each of which has "problems," then offers projects and styling ideas to transform them into beautifully livable spaces. The 35 original projects--including mosaic splash panels, a pleated lampshade, a stenciled roller blind, and an organza shower curtain--use simple skills, including sewing and fabric painting, gilding and dyeing, and require no special tools. Accompanying each project are sequential color photos, easy-to-follow instructions, and all the necessary templates. Interior designer Andrea Maflin is also the author of "Easy and Elegant Home Decorating" and "Decorative Paper."
From Library Journal:
Maflin (Easy & Elegant Home Decorating) shows how she transforms a drab room into a stylish one without huge remodeling or expensive makeovers. Using the existing space and furniture, she fixes up a family room, a hallway, a bathroom, and even a garden with fabric, paint, and other decorative techniques. Especially helpful are the before-and-after color photographs as well as her descriptions of the design approach she takes to accommodate the dwellers' needs and lifestyle. The techniques and projects she employs have instructions that are better done in other books, such as Coetzee and Bergh's Sew-It-Yourself Home Decor, reviewed above. However, for the pictures of room transformations and her design advice, this title will be a good purchase for public libraries.
