Gr. 7-9. The series title, Just the Facts, pretty much sums it up: the short, straightforward texts set out basic information about the effects, legal standing, and history of a drug. The organization is not always clear, and there's some repetition. In addition, the color photos, which actually appear on nearly every page, sometimes seem tossed in (a girl lying on a beach). Much of the information in Tobacco can be found in other sources, but the book does include a brief, useful overview of recent lawsuits involving the major tobacco companies, and it delves into the worldwide marketing of cigarettes by U.S. companies. Ecstasy has the advantage of being about a drug that is currently in vogue and covered in fewer books. Not first choices, perhaps, but of help if additional material on these topics is needed. Appended are a list of sources of information and help, a short list of further reading, and a glossary. Todd Morning
