In March 1945, the author is sole radio officer on a small tanker sent to join the allied forces gathering to take part in the beachhead landings in Malaya. As the war ends, his ship is sent to Hong Kong where awaits the best adventure of all, Anni. They fall in love, but this is just the beginning of a new set of adventures and obstacles

About the Author:
Too young to enlist in the armed forces, Gordon Mumford was a Merchant Navy radio officer while in his teens. He served in the Atlantic, Europe, Mediterranean, and Pacific war theatres (1942-47). After the war, he was an assistant field engineer in East Africa (1949-58). He immigrated to Canada in 1949 where he qualified as a teacher. From 1961-81, he was a technical instructor on international aid project (UNESCO, CIDA, etc.) in Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia. He and his family returned to Canada in 1980. He worked for the Pacific Region of Communications Canada in Vancouver, and began writing after his retirement.

Adventures in the Far East at the end of World War II. Sailing out to face the Japanese he meets more than the enemy as he falls in love with Anni, a Hong Kong Sampan girl. Unfortunately, the ending is a sad one, but with all good authors the real story is catching the readers' imagination, holding their imagination until the final chapter is closed. A worthy read.
