Review:
The great spiritual writer and Trappist monk Thomas Merton tells us that "There is only one thing necessary: to be what God wants us to be." In Walking a Woman's Path: A Woman's Faith Journey, you'll discover a woman of faith and love that does just that. Our prayers reveal a lot more about us and our response to the stirrings of the Spirit within than they do about God. Through Helen's prayers, you will meet a person who has taken the challenge to walk ever deeper in the way of love, compassion and justice, knowing what God calls her and all of us as well to be. It is God who inspires our prayers and moves us to do what we pray for. Helen is a person who acts on her prayers and is an inspiration to all of us who join her in these prayers -- male, as well as female. Through her prayers, we can all become more aware of the Divine Presence in the totality of our lives as we walk the path with her on this journey called life. --Fr. Richard M. Kingsley, pastor, Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Tucson, AZ
Helen models what true prayer should be; conversation with God. In an intimate and lyrical voice, Helen lifts up to the Lord her daily joys and frustrations, gratitude and grumpiness, love and laughter. We hear our own familiar thoughts as we eavesdrop on her poignant prayers. Helen's sincerity stirs in us a desire for the same close relationship with the Lord that she obviously enjoys. This highly recommended, warm compilation of Helen Russell's informal chats with God will move you to pray differently. --Brigid Waszczak, Spiritual Director and Retreat Leader, Tucson, AZ
Helen speaks a language of love, speaks to our hearts and speaks to God. You will find your voice in her words, receive the comfort of Jesus and grow through her work. This book is a treasure and the perfect gift for those who struggle at times, love always and celebrate life. --Bette Lovelace, Teacher, State of Arizona Reading Specialist and Retreat Leader
