This is the second book in a Jeff Davis' series recounting true ghost stories from the Pacific Northwest. The stories in this book are not fiction, but come from many sources, like newspaper stories and first hand experiences from people who have had paranormal encounters.

This book is thirty pages longer than Jeff's first book: Ghosts and Strange Critters of Washington and Oregon. Although most of the stories in this book are new, some of the haunted sites from Jeff's first book have been updated. There are more public places in this book, like bars, restaurants, hotels or public buildings. Most of them can be visited by readers for their own experiences.

This book is divided into geograpic regions in Washington and Oregon, including the Puget Sound, the Coast, and east and west of the Cascade Mountains. In addition to ghost stories, there are several stories about "Strange Critters" like the Bigfoot and "Sea Critters" that have been seen in the Pacific Northwest.

At the end of the book is a section on ghost hunting, where the author describes natural phenomenon that can be mistaken for hauntings. Such as low frequency sounds, which can cause hallucinations and other seemingly paranomal phenomenon. There is also a history of the Armonica, which instead of creating ghosts was thought to summon angels.

There are several photographs of haunted locations as well as an index at the end of the book.

About the Author:
Jeff Davis was born in Vancouver Washington in 1962. According to fmaily tradition, he is related to Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederacy. Jeff is an army brat and grew up playing around the Vancouver Barracks, which led to an interest in history and the military. Late night horror movies also led to an interest in archaeology, mythology and the paranormal.

Jeff has been a member of the armed forces for over 20 years. He has served both in the Army Reserves as well as on active duty. He holds a commission in the U.S. Army Reserves and has served in my posts in his career, including Italy, England, Japan, Korea and Bosnia.

In between military postings, Jeff has pursued his other interests in archaeology and the paranoramal. He received a Bachelor's in Science degree from Portland State University in 1987. He worked as an archaeologist for the U.S. Forest Service for several years. He worked on the Gifford Pinchot, Umatilla, Mt. Hood and Boise National Forests from 1988 to 1994.

After leaving the Forest Service Jeff began his own archaeological and historical research firm. He worked with many public preservation groups and Native American tribes before beginning his Master's of Arts program. In 1995, Jeff and his wife Janine travelled to England, where Jeff spent a year completing his Master's degree in Archaeology and Prehistory from the University of Sheffield. His thesis topic was the Viking settlements in Greenland. Jeff still hopes to finish a book in Greenland.

While he was at Sheffield, Jeff decided to write a book about the ghosts of the Pacific Northwest. Unfortunately, Jeff's plans took a detour, when the U.S. Army sent him to Bosnia, where he worked as a Civil Affairs specialist.

Upon returning from Bosnia Jeff began working on his first book of ghosts stories: Ghosts and Strange Critters of Washington and Oregon. He published this book himself, early in 1999. It was followed six months later by his second book: Ghosts, Critters and Sacred Places of Washington and Oregon.
