Situated in the beautiful Fox River Valley, the city of Aurora has emerged as the second largest and one of the fastest growing cities in Illinois. In 2006 it was named one of Money magazine s top 100 small cities. While it is a mere 40 miles from Chicago, and very much ensconced in that great city s suburban landscape, Aurora is a dynamic, independent place defined by its diversity and its rich history of industry and innovation. Aurora is a city of firsts: the first to provide citywide electric lights, the first to create a public school district in Illinois, the first to initiate wireless Internet access to all its citizens. It is also a place that has always recognized the value of diversity, a fact reflected in its past as well as its present. Aurora is a great place to do business, raise a family, experience the arts, relax, and recreate. It is an urban space with a small-town feel. The communities within the greater whole have unique identities that when woven together create a vibrant and versatile tapestry, the fabric that defines this city.
