About the Author:
Carolyn Gray Thornton, a retired social worker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, has spent years as the wife of a United Methodist Minister leading games, creating mixers for groups and having fun with all ages of people. With her family background of years of game playing, she has created a program which she presents to Elderhostel groups entitled, "The Heritage of Games in the Family Culture." This book is a natural outgrowth of her family, professional and volunteerism in recreational activities.

Ellen Gray Massey has led games for many diverse groups---her large extended family, 4-H Clubs, recreation workshops, women's groups, her school classes from grade one through graduate school, and more recently at Elderhostel classes. She is the author of two nonfiction books as well as editor of several anthologies. From 1973-1983, she was the teacher/advisor of Bittersweet, the Ozark Quarterly.
