Gr 1-3-These introductions to two endangered animals are serviceable at best. The oversized, highly pictorial volumes tell a story that basically follows their respective subjects throughout the course of a year. Each double-page spread offers a fold-out flap that uncovers some additional ``fun facts.'' The illustrations are passable, with cartoonlike drawings. There is no table of contents, but an index that generally lists words and phrases from the text is appended.
