About the Author:
I have had many years of experience in teaching adults and post-school learners in Adult Basic Education, Further Education and various other education settings. Almost universally, I have found that the main two problems affecting adults with poor literacy skills are learning how to use punctuation, and learning how to spell. This applies particularly to dyslexic adults, but also to a huge range of people in this age group who, for a wide variety of reasons, have trouble with spelling. In this book, I have used the same approach as when I teach people face-to-face how to spell, and I hope that readers and users of A Useful Spelling Handbook will enjoy having the next thing to personal tuition as they work their way through the different spelling rules and patterns and emerge as better spellers.
