Moira Keegan is certain that someone is trying to kill her father. She tries to recruit Sherlock Holmes to save his life, but all at 221B Street are certain that there is no basis for Moira's fears. When, a short time later, they read of the man's death in a sleazy waterfront inn, the members of London's premier consulting detective agency have a new client and a singular purpose. Their investigation will place them at odds with Scotland Yard's Special Branch, Irish revolutionaries, religious zealots, and even staff of the London Times. Only Lestrade remains an ally, and he dare only participate covertly with his frequent colleagues. Before all can be brought right, the Baker Street trio will have to call on the assistance of Charles Stewart Parnell, leader of the Irish Parliamentary Party, and his mistress Katharine O'Shea.
Before discovering his true calling of correcting years of misinformation regarding events at 221B Street, Barry S Brown conducted research in the areas of mental health, criminology and drug abuse. In addition to his research publications, Brown has published a half dozen short stories and two pieces of poetry, as well as the Mrs. Hudson of Baker Street series. He now lives with his wife, Ann, in Carolina Beach, North Carolina, where his appearance in cape and deerstalker hat attracts admiring glances and occasional police inquiry.

Barry S. Brown has spent most of his professional life conducting research in the areas of mental health, criminology and drug abuse. He has published two books and more than a hundred journal articles and chapters examining those issues. He now lives with his wife, Ann, in Carolina Beach, North Carolina, an ocean and a century removed from the London of Sherlock Holmes.
''Brown ... introduced his lady sleuth last year in The Unpleasantness at Parkerton Manor. Now, he follows up with Mrs. Hudson and the Irish Invincibles, which may be even more fun than his first novel.... One can't wait for a third volume in this series ...'' --Ben Steelman, Wilmington Star-News, July 10, 2011
''Mrs. Hudson and the Irish Invincibles, by Barry S. Brown, is the second book in his ''Mrs. Hudson of Baker Street'' series; as in the first book The Unpleasantness at Parkerton Manor, Mrs. Hudson does the real detecting, with assistance from Holmes and Watson, this time in a case involving Irish revolutionaries and imaginative plotting.'' --Peter E. Blau, Scuttlebutt from the Spermaceti Press, July 2011 #6
''Holmes fans will enoy this latest puzzle helmed by Mrs. Hudson ... Holmes, Dr. Watson and Mrs. Hudson would be delightful no matter what case they had chosen to investigate, yet it's all the more fun when you mix Wiggins and Inspector Lestrade into the case ... I look forward to more adventures with Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson under the guiding hand of Mrs. Hudson.'' --Cherie Jung, Over My Dead Body! Mystery Magazine, August 10, 2011
