Venice, 1592. A young prostitute is found murdered and mutilated.

Francesco Sagredo, recently returned from exile, is asked by the Doge to look out for his son, Tomasso Cicogna. A dark tale of religious obsession, political intrigue, drug money and the occult begins to unravel, drawing Sagredo, Teresa and Tomasso into a nightmare fight against the forces of evil. And when someone close to him is set to become the Saviour’s next victim, Sagredo has to use the full range of his abilities to isolate the killer and bring him to justice.

About the Author:

After graduating from King's College, London, Michael White became a member of the '80s band the Thompson Twins. He later lectured in Chemistry at d'verbroeck's College, Oxford and in the '90s worked as a journalist, including a stint as Science Editor at GQ and as a columnist for the Sunday Express. Michael's first book (co-authored with John Gribbin): 'Stephen Hawking: A Life in Science' was a global bestseller. Since then, he has published 39 books in 35 languages including the award-winning 'Isaac Newton: The Last Sorcerer' and 'Rivals: Conflict as the Fuel of Science', short-listed for the Aventis Prize His first novel, 'Equinox', published in 2006, was a Sunday Times bestseller. He continues to write highly acclaimed fiction. More recently, he co-authored a thriller with James Patterson, 'Private Down Under', which reached the Top Ten in the UK charts and the New York Times bestseller list. His latest thriller, 'The Venetian Detective' was recently optioned for film/TV. He emigrated to Australia in 2002 and lives with his wife and four children in Perth, WA.
