Synopsis

Max Jackson, a New Zealander living and lecturing in Paris, has a complicated arrangement with his estranged French wife, Louise. In love with his younger Sorbonne colleague Sylvie, he finds himself entangled with Helen, a troubled young English student. About the Author:

C. K. Stead is an award-winning novelist, literary critic, poet, essayist and emeritus professor of English at the University of Auckland. He was the 2015-17 New Zealand Poet Laureate, has won the Prime Minister's Award for Literature, and is a Member of the Order of New Zealand, the highest honour possible in New Zealand.
