Once many years ago when I was a naive young adventurer, I thought that the best way to travel was look at a map, set a schedule and stick to it, no matter what the distractions along the way. After some years of this, I went to the opposite extreme, and wandered Australia without too many fixed objectives and without much of a timetable either. I looked at the landscape as I travelled, and stopped at likely places for as long as it took me to record images of the sights I saw and the people I met.
