About the Author:
Kinsale Drake Hueston is a high school senior and activist from Southern California, as well as a 2017 National Student Poet, the nation's highest honor for youth poets presenting original work. As part of her year of service, she held poetry workshops at Sherman Indian High School in Riverside, California, from February to May of 2018, which inspired her to create an anthology of the students' works. An enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, her own poetry is strongly influenced by her childhood, Navajo matriarchy, and contemporary Indigenous social justice issues. She and her work have been recognized by The Los Angeles Times, ABC7, KNX News Radio, OC Weekly, Indian Country Today, the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, and more.
