The search for one's biological parent is actually a search for one's own self. As such, for someone who knows only half his parentage, this is an important pursuit. A child must be able to find his other parent to completely find himself. If only for this reason, it is essential to help the many children in our world in this their quest, if they so fervently wish. This book delineates the arduous search for the biological father of Mary. Pakhan, the writer and husband of Mary, presents the story of his wife's difficult undertaking. It was a given that this was a Japanese father who, during World War II, initially forced her mother into a relationship. It happened in that part of the war that has remained underexposed. As a result of the enormous taboo that was attached to such matters, Mary was left to deny more than fifty-five years of such a paternal relationship. She always had to keep silent about her origins. However, some years back, Mary and her husband decided to put an end to this secrecy. She openly came out with her efforts to trace her Japanese descent. It was a difficult decision because many other people had to be involved. Out of respect for them when this sensitive matter was made public, the disclosures were done and presented, and were subject to a certain degree of anonymity. Pakhan, the husband of the main character in this book, has written this as a sort of logical continuation of his previously published book, "I'm Different, A Child of the Enemy". By writing it, he helps in his wife's endeavor to complete the search for her true ancestry. Pakhan was a former senior officer in the Royal Navy. He was also a staff officer for Social Affairs before leaving the service. He is currently the chairman of the leisure club known as "Tropical Friends" and organizes "kumpulans" or gatherings, parties, and the annual Pasar Malam, or "night market" in Den Helder. In their interest and support for Dutch children of Japanese and Indian bloodlines and family backgrounds, he and his wife have become members of the Sakura Foundation and the Netherlands/Japan Association.
