Review:
These primers help younger readers understand weather (rain, snow, sun, and wind) at its most basic level. Each page contains one sentence, usually between three and four words. All sentences are declarative; many are in the present-tense plural. Full-page color photographs, featuring children of different skin tones, appear in each installment. Though the photos significantly reduce the amount of white space, bold text boxes help differentiate the words from the background. The images support the text well, but the choice to use visual cues to point to specific vocabulary terms within the photos is unnecessary. A "Words To Know" section concludes each book, reinforcing six key concepts by repeating images from the story. The introductory "Tools for Teachers" section may aid in curricular usage. VERDICT Purchase as needed for early reader collections. --School Library Journal (10/26/2018)
