What happens when everything you thought you knew about yourself is untrue? In The Art of Finding Yourself, author Fiona Robertson—senior facilitator and trainer of Scott Kiloby’s Living Inquiries method of self-inquiry and exploration—reflects on her own experience of discovering and living with this life-changing process. The Living Inquiries invite you on an inner journey to examine and dispel the stories that make you feel separate, inadequate, or otherwise “wrong.” With this book, you’ll begin to learn how to deal with “the stuff of life” both before and after that false sense of self and separation has slipped away.

Our identities are built on the stories we tell ourselves about our experiences, other people, and the world, and on the beliefs that we’re truly separate beings and that there’s something wrong with us—the roots of all suffering. But when you have the courage to really inquire, you discover that your story is not the whole truth, your self-image is not real, and even your woundedness is not what you thought it was. All that’s left is truth: you are not the person you’ve taken yourself to be, and you’re certainly not alone. With the Living Inquiries, you have an effective, structured method for realizing that you are not separate or deficient.

In The Art of Finding Yourself, Robertson shares how her own sense of suffering—especially the deep, painful belief that there was something wrong with her—led her to the Living Inquiries, and what this self-inquisitive process looks like in real life. In reflecting on her own personal journey, she helps you explore and unravel the stories that keep you feeling isolated and not good enough. “Living the inquiries” means approaching life without protecting your story, defending your self-image, or hiding from your deepest pain. It’s living with no added analysis, interpretation, judgment, or theorizing, and it can transform your life!

No matter how flawed or enlightened you think you are, no matter how much work you think you’ve done or left undone, you’re always faced with life and influenced by your own stories—and moving beyond those stories requires a deep, inward journey. With this book, you’ll discover what it means to realize you are not the separate self you thought you were, and find engaging, insightful reflections on how to move forward in life using the transformative Living Inquiries.

About the Author:
Fiona Robertson is a senior facilitator and trainer of Scott Kiloby’s Living Inquiries. She works with clients and trainees from around the world using this gentle, radical, and transformative method. She cocreated the Anxiety Inquiry, and is editor of two books by Scott Kiloby. Robertson lives in Nottingham, UK, and occasionally writes poetry.

Foreword writer Scott Kiloby is a noted author, teacher, and international speaker on the subject of non-dual wisdom as it applies to addiction, depression, anxiety, and trauma. He is founder of a worldwide community of Living Inquiries facilitators who work with people in over twelve different countries. He is also cofounder of the Kiloby Center for Recovery in Rancho Mirage, CA, the first addiction, anxiety, and depression treatment center to focus primarily on mindfulness.
Review:
“Fiona Robertson’s succinct volume is a personal guide to the Living Inquiries, the self-liberation method of which she is a highly adept facilitator. She shows us how fearless and open inquiry can free us of the ‘seeming self,’ the illusory yet powerful tyrant that keeps us stuck in a limited world with limited possibilities.”
Gabor Maté, MD, author of In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts, When the Body Says No, and Scattered, and coauthor of Hold On to Your Kids

The Art of Finding Yourself by Fiona Robertson offers a cornucopia of information and wisdom about awakening and the Living Inquiries. Read it straight through or pick a chapter at random and the result will be the same—an insightful ‘aha’ moment, a shift in perception, or a dropping into the direct experience of that which she points to. The Art of Finding Yourself is a great little read—which could quite possibly lead to a great BIG change.”
J. Stewart Dixon, author, teacher, and founder of Blue Collar Enlightenment

The Art of Finding Yourself is an immensely helpful and practical guide to dismantling our identification with our stories, staying fully present with our denied and difficult underlying emotions, and learning to rest in natural curiosity and awareness, in full acceptance of whatever arises. Fiona’s personal vulnerability and profound clarity shine throughout her book, which I highly recommend.”
Susan Thesenga, spiritual teacher, author of The Undefended Self and Love Unbroken, mother and grandmother, and cofounder, with her husband Donovan, of Sevenoaks Retreat Center in Madison, VA

“Fiona Robertson’s work is at the leading edge of the marriage of Eastern spirituality with Western psychotherapy. Deep spirituality can so easily become a way for people to avoid the psychological challenges of life, but The Art of Finding Yourself is a book that makes spirituality real, taking it right into our pain, where it can have its greatest effect.”
Tim Freke, deep life philosopher and author of Deep Awake
