Barbara H. Chasin (Montclair, NJ) is professor of sociology at Montclair State University and the author of Kerala: Radical Reform as Development in an Indian State and Seeds of Famine: Ecological Destruction and the Development Dilemma in the West African Sahel (with R. W. Franke).
