About the Author:
Jerry Buck is the author of Devil’s Rainbow and The Blood Red Rose. He formerly reported for the Associated Press as a special writer and columnist. Jerry was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, attended McNeese University, and served as a first lieutenant in the Infantry. He and his wife Carol have five children and seven grandchildren.

The author's first Western is narrated by Ben Wheeler, a young Confederate veteran of the Civil War, who sets up a law office in San Miguel, Texas. When his wife is killed by bank robbers, he decides to avenge her by killing all those involved in her murder. His skill as a gunman serves him well, as he pursues the killers to Kansas and, ultimately, achieves his purpose. Much of the action takes place in Dodge City and involves some historical personages whose names will be familiar to Western readers. The novel has faults often common to first attempts--wordiness that retards the action, and unconvincing characters. For undemanding readers.
