As a teenager, Sean Lambert left college in 1979 to join Youth With A Mission (YWAM), now one of the world's largest mission organizations. His first overseas mission was to Thailand, where he assisted thousands of Cambodian and Laotian war refugees. His experiences there taught him how to minister to people by addressing both their spiritual and their practical needs.
After Thailand, Sean joined the staff of YWAM Los Angeles, was married, and with his wife, Janet, began mobilizing hundreds of youth each year in short-term outreaches. In 1990, Sean and his young daughter, Andrea, traveled with a team to Tijuana, Mexico, to build a home for a poor family. Andrea's plea for another family living in a nearby abandoned bus led Sean to mobilize a second group to build a home for the poor.
In celebrating the organization's 25th anniversary with their 2-day mega build-a-thon of 25 donated homes by 500+ volunteers, Sean was named "Hero of the Week" by People Magazine who also featured Homes of Hope International in their special "American Heroes" issue in honoring the organization's quarter century of transforming lives globally. CNN also filmed one of their builds on-location in Mexico for their "Impact Your World" series.

About the Author:

Sean Lambert is the President and Executive Director of Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in San Diego/Baja, which he and his wife, Janet, launched in 1991, founding the Homes of Hope program in Tijuana, Mexico which has since expanded to 19 nations in building more then 5000 homes donated to needy families.
As a speaker and community development leader who also serves on various boards, Sean travels extensively each year, both domestically and internationally, to share information about the poor and teach leadership principles.
