From the Inside Flap:

A young donkey enjoying the afternoon sun listens as his mother begins to tell the story of the Great Miracle--the life of Jesus Christ. Passed down from the donkey's grandmother, the animal who carried Mary to Bethlehem, the story recounts the birth and early life of Jesus Christ. From Jesus' humble birth in a stable in Bethlehem to the coming of the Wise Men, the Holy Family's flight through the desert, and the finding of Jesus in the temple, all of the events in Christ's childhood are rendered through the eyes of an animal who loved him.

When the young donkey grows up, always keeping with him the stories passed down to him by his grandmother about the miraculous Christ child, he goes to live with a family near the village of Bethany. One day, two strangers approach his home and take the donkey with them, saying that the Lord has need for the animal. The donkey, afraid and uncertain, travels to the Mount of Olives where he is prepared for a trip into Jerusalem. After the two strangers place their cloaks on the donkey's back, they lift a man to sit on him.

That man is Jesus Christ, which the donkey realizes as he walks to Jerusalem. Many people line the road, waving palms and shouting Hosanna, and the donkey feels incredibly blessed to have had the opportunity to serve the Lord.
