Gynecology for the Primary Care Physician was conceived and written to address what we believe is a growing concern for primary care physicians. Managed care continues to alter patient choice and requires the primary care physician to diagnose and treat a broader array of gynecologic problems than ever before. Therefore, there is a need for a book which provides the information needed in a format that is easy to use. We believe that Gynecology for the Primary Care Physician does just this. The topics included in this text were selected because they represent those clinical situations that are faced by primary care physicians every day. The authors were selected not only for their expertise and academic credibility, but also because they are front-line practitioners who see and care for patients. Furthermore, each chapter was arranged in such a fashion that the material is organized in a standardized format and answers those questions and clinical situations most commonly encountered. We would like to thank each author who has worked on this book and given his or her time in order to produce a volume that will be used and not simply put on a shelf. We hope that you will enjoy this book and find it useful as you care for your patients.
