About the Author:

Peter Steiner was born in Baden, south of Vienna in 1937. While his father was away at war, he and his siblings fled with their mother to an East Tyrolian mountain valley. During his school years he occasionally worked at the Clearing as a gardener. After finishing his studies of geology and paleontology at the University of Vienna he worked for the United Nations as an advisor in mining, living in many different countries. In 1980 he became active globally as an independent mining consultant. His literary activities began in 1983 and he has received a number of literary prizes in the past years.
