About the Author:

Eric Holmlund Eric Holmlund currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Forestry, Natural Resources and Recreation Division of Paul Smith's College and coordinator of the Recreation, Adventure Travel and Ecotourism Program (B.S.). He is also the Director of the Watershed Stewardship Program, which conducts recreation resource research on the St. Regis Lakes chain, Upper Saranac Lake and St. Regis Mountain, and provides public education on controlling exotic aquatic invasive species and minimizing recreational impact to the St. Regis Mountain trail and summit. Holmlund brings students from Paul Smith's College to Costa Rica to study ecotourism and adventure travel. He also teaches courses in environmental literature and nature writing at Paul Smith's College. Holmlund has served as the Director of the Outdoor Education Program at St. Lawrence University and as a senior instructor for the Wilderness Education Association (WEA). He has taught WEA outdoor leadership expeditions for North Country Community College, Southern Illinois University, Slippery Rock University, University of Alaska- Anchorage, University of Colorado- Ft. Collins, and Wesleyan University. These expeditions were set in the Adirondack Park, Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, New Mexico, Utah, and Alaska. Holmlund has served as course director and instructor for the New York City Outward Bound Center. He has designed and facilitated leadership and team building programs for a wide range of corporate and educational clients. Jack K. Drury Jack has been working with learners of all ages and walks of life ranging from youth at risk to corporate executives for 30 years. Jack is co-owner of Leading EDGE, a professional development organization of experienced educators who design and facilitate learning experiences for educators, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies. Jack was the founding Director of the Wilderness Recreation Leadership Program and an Associate Professor at North Country Community College in Saranac Lake, New York. He has taught Wilderness Education Association (WEA) courses since 1979 and has been an Education By Design Institute Coordinator affiliated with the Antioch New England Graduate School since 1992. He is past-president of the WEA, a veteran of numerous National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) courses and has been fortunate enough to lead and participate in ventures throughout North America, Central America, Europe, and Siberia during all the seasons.
