Gr 9 Up--A revision of the 1989 title (Greenhaven). Of the five chapters in each edition, three of the topics (``Is Euthanasia Ethical?'', ``Who Should Make the Euthanasia Decision?'', and ``Is Infant Euthanasia Ethical?'') remain the same, with two others that have either been overhauled or have a change in focus. A new chapter--``Should Physicians Assist in Euthanasia?''--typifies the inherent modifications throughout a text that accommodates current developments and controversies in an ever-changing societal debate. The number of essays per chapter varies from four to eight; each chapter includes questions for consideration and concludes with a periodical bibliography. Gone are the ``Critical Thinking Activities'' of the earlier volume, but an appended ``For Further Discussion'' section poses three additional questions per chapter. An updated listing of organizations provides a brief overview of the purpose and philosophy of each group, its publications, and specific contact information. This concise, one-stop source is useful both for personal research as well as for classroom discussion; it provides solid, easily accessible information on both sides of an issue. An indispensable companion to the number of other titles currently available on the subject.
