About the Author:

Sally Schneider has been quilting since 1971, when she started making quilts for her children and for friends who were having babies. Since then, she has lost count of the number of quilts she has made. Suffice it to say that none of her children or grandchildren will ever be cold at night. She has lived all over the world, but now she calls Albuquerque, New Mexico, home.
When Sally's not quilting, she enjoys landscape photography, singing in her church choir, and visiting her grandchildren.

When I saw this book I got excited, SCRAPS! How many of us have collected oodles of scraps but are not quite sure what to do with them and how to organize them? Well, that's me and this book is a must have for my library.

Whenever I have made a scrappy quilt it drives me crazy because I can never truly make it scrappy, I always have to plan it out and then it's not so scrappy anymore. Sally gives three methods of how to make different quilts from accumulated fabrics, all with a different look. One of these methods is the "brown bag method" which I have never been comfortable with, but the quilts in this book are really nice so I'm going to take a deep breath and take the challenge.

I was especially excited about her idea of cutting fabrics into certain sizes and storing them by size so when you're ready to sew most of your cutting is done! She shows a way to cut a fat quarter into various sizes, with little waste, for using in scrappy quilts. This will take some time initially but will be worth it in the end. --connectingthreads.com

What great looking scrap quilts! Sally discusses her three techniques for choosing fabrics, which can be overwhelming when making a scrap quilt. She also has pages of her techniques for new ways of making triangle squares, folded corners, and shaded four-patch units. This book is a compilation of her three previous books for Martingale. She illustrates a great technique for using fat quarters, but most of the quilts are based on 42" lengths. Her instructions and explanations are very clear.
