From Booklist:
Gr. 3-5. From the My First series with its large format and bright, white pages, this craft book presents ideas such as stenciled boxes, painted T-shirts, and papier-m{ƒ}ach{‚}e pins. Each project appears on a double-page spread featuring clear photographs of the tools, supplies, and finished products as well as smaller photos illustrating the instructions. If middle-grade students can get beyond the book's babyish title, the ideas and directions will suit them just fine. Parents, teachers, camp counselors, and scout leaders may find individual projects to adapt for somewhat younger children. Carolyn Phelan
From School Library Journal:
Grade 4-6-A bright, oversized book full of colorful photographs inviting young artists to create wonderful projects. Using various paint techniques, step-by-step instructions give readers ideas for decorating gift bags, making and using stencils, painting T-shirts, designing a kite, and more. The words "My First" in the title are a bit deceptive, as some of the activities are quite complicated and designed for upper elementary audiences. Otherwise, this is an enjoyable title for reading or browsing.
