She then examines images of God, the "goddess" movement, and feminine responses to Jesus. Her thought can be summed up in the phrase "We women too are Church".
This is a much-needed book, one capable of building bridges between Christian feminists and traditionalists. It can explain Christian feminism to those who cannot see what it is trying to achieve, or why, in a way few - if any - Christian feminist works published to date are able to do. It has been updated, with a new Introduction, for this translation, and Sr Lavinia Byrne IBVM has contributed a special 'Postscript' on the Church of England's November 1992 decision to ordain women to the priesthood.
