About the Author:

James F. Keenan, S.J., has an S.T.D. from the Gregorian University and currently teaches at Weston Jesuit, where he is
professor of moral theology and director of the doctoral program. Author of Virtues for Ordinary Christians (Sheed & Ward), and Catholic Moral Theology in the Service of HIV Prevention, he is also the editor of the Moral Traditions series at Georgetown University Press.

In Virtues For Ordinary Christians, James F. Keenan, S. J. shows how acquiring the virtues as habits of being creates our intended identity as Christians. Today's ethical challenge is to uncover our real redeemed nature in the practice of human communal virtue. Keenan regroups the "cardinal" virtues, identifies some new ones, and expands the list of "most desirable" virtues. With pastoral insight the moral theologian explores the shift from consensus to conscientious virtue, poses questions about forming and following conscience, and explains the difference between conscience and superego.
