As a small girl Shannon Guymon lived in Plano, Texas, where her best friend was an African-American girl. This book is in memory of their friendship.

Shannon currently lives in Alpine, Utah, with her husband and three children. She enjoys the mountains, gardening, being with her family and of course, writing.
