Maria Chapdelaine est un roman rédigé en 1913 par l'écrivain français Louis Hémon, alors résident au Québec. Il y raconte la vie d'une famille qui tente de s'établir en milieu rural. Bien qu'écrit au Québec, la première publication de Maria Chapdelaine se fera en France, en 1913, dans le feuilleton quotidien Le Temps. Dans les années 1930, le roman est utilisé comme outil de propagande pour inciter les colons canadiens-français à demeurer au pays et favoriser la colonisation en Abitibi.

Louis Hémon (Brest, 12 octobre 1880 - Chapleau, Ontario, 8 juillet 1913) est un écrivain français. Il doit sa célébrité à son principal roman Maria Chapdelaine écrit en 1912-1913 au Québec et publié après sa mort accidentelle à 32 ans.
