About the Author:
Roma Dhingra is a writer, researcher, and an educator who moved to Southern California with her husband when she was twenty-two. She grew up in Northern India where her family observed many cultural traditions and celebrations. In India she celebrated Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh, and Parsi festivals. Schools closed down for each one. Although her own family did not celebrate every tradition, she could always go to a friend’s home to join the family in their celebrations. Since she moved to the United States, she has enjoyed many American celebrations. In this book the author has shared her memories of the celebrations she looked forward to when she was a child, in the hope that her stories will connect the readers to their roots, their cultures, and their values.
