As a whole the collection is considerably above the average of one which, without being devoted to any special school or period, covers the entire field, - old masters as well as modern artists. All collections naturally contain specimens Which are not of the quality of the majority, but here there are relatively few representatives of a class far below thegood average standard, while there are quite a number of items that rank considerably above the average.
