David Aston was a good accountant and into his thirties. He knew that professionally he had done well but his physical acts were virtually non-existent. He was a literal eight stone weakling. He decided to something about it, but he didn't know what. After a lot of time looking at the various options he decided he would train up and walk to the Magnetic North Pole. Despite the incredible obstacles he faced he managed to defy the odds and walked there. A few years later he was driving his car when he had a car crash and his world turned around in a second. He was in hospital with a relatively minor jaw injury when all of a sudden he had a stroke and he had become physically and mentally impaired. He could no longer work as an accountant. He now knew that he had to defy the odds again and start to combat the stroke. He remembered his North Pole trip and took heart from this and a few of the tricks he learnt from the North Pole he started using them again but in a more serious battle against a stroke. This book tells of his fights, firstly in doing the impossible and walking to the North Pole, but secondly in fighting one of natures worst diseases.

About the Author:
Personal Details Name: David Aston Date of Birth 15/08/68 (47 years old) Overview I left Barnes Roffe LLP because I had a stroke and was no longer capable of doing such a technical job. It was a sad way to leave and I left a job I loved. Until the stroke I had always been aware I would be an accountant for life and my memories of visiting the North Pole would remain within my friends and family. After the stroke although I am only alert around three hours a day I decided my trip, and the stroke were worthy of a book, and more frequent talks. I have now written the book showing how I defied the odds in getting to the North Pole and then revived some North Pole tricks to cope with the stroke. Personal Interests Travelling - completed the Polar Race 2005, (a 350 mile foot race from Resolute Bay in Canada to the Magnetic North Pole). · Involved as an Honorary member of Peebles Round Table and a former member of Beaconsfield, Cape Town, Bahrain and Winchester Round Table. Where I was the Community Services Chairman and Area Treasurer in Winchester. · Walking in particular to observe wildlife. · General interest in sport.
